| Why a Bear Drive for Children?
The staff of Dahlinger & Company Insurance started the Bear Drive for Children in 2008. A collection of stuffed bears was begun. They wanted a way to give back to the kids in their home town.
In the service of their communities, officers of law enforcement and medical care providers find children in need of comfort due to situations beyond their control.
When a child is involved in a traumatic situation, a teddy bear can bring comfort to that child. Our local police officers distribute these stuffed bears when children are involved in scary situations like automobile accidents, domestic violence, assault and battery, death of a family member and natural disasters.
Mercy Medical Center has an average three to seven pediatric patients per day, ranging in age from infants to seventeen years old. All of these children have different backgrounds and different needs. However, they all have one thing in common: they are ill and come to Mercy for care. For a pediatric patient this experience can be very frightening. Not only do they not feel well, they are away from home. Nurses can offer a bear and its small measure of comfort.
In the arms of a child, these soft bears can provide a friendly hug when nothing else will do.
Won't you help a child in need? Please donate
a new stuffed bear to comfort a child.
